24 Days of Spice | Day 9 - Sea Salt w/Saffron

Sea Salt with a sprinkling of Saffron. It’s fancy salt.

The packet said to add after cooking, so I decided to go with an Indian theme and leave out the salt when cooking.

I decided on a Masoor (Red Lentil) Dahl based on the fact that the lentils cook quickly and I had a lot of them. I generally followed Bianca Zapata’s recipe, used a can of Rotel for the tomatoes, the full can of coconut milk, and extra water. I also added all liquids at once, which worked just fine and was a bit easier when I was cooking during hockey game commercial breaks.

Served with a side of Jasmine rice because I didn’t realize I had Basmati until I was putting leftovers in the freezer. I sprinkled the top with cilantro and the salt and it was delicious. Good thing it was tasty because I have enough to feed an army.
